Depois de uma primeira apresentação em Paredes de Coura, a Exposição de Fanzines da Fanzinoteca Rock’n’Cave inicia agora um percurso itinerante, levando pequenas mostras a diferentes espaços culturais. O primeiro local a acolher esta viagem é a recém-inaugurada Livraria Zumbido, em Matosinhos.

Esta exposição celebra mais de 20 anos de atividade da Fanzinoteca Rock’n’Cave, com especial destaque para artistas que continuam a explorar e a expandir as possibilidades da edição independente.

Os fanzines (“fanatics magazines”) revelam-se um território privilegiado de expressão, informação e criação, onde muitos autores – ilustradores, designers e escritores – dão os seus primeiros passos. Tudo nos fanzines é variável e experimental: formatos, tiragens, periodicidade, preços, temas, entre outros detalhes. Neles convivem tanto a espontaneidade e o efémero como uma grande mestria técnica, conteúdos sérios e regularidade editorial de fazer inveja a revistas profissionais.

A exposição deste ano, com curadoria da ilustradora italiana Rosita Uricchio, foi pensada para ser leve e acessível – tal como os próprios fanzines. As estruturas em cartão foram escolhidas pela sua simplicidade, mobilidade e versatilidade, permitindo recriar a mostra em diferentes espaços e contextos.

After its first presentation in Paredes de Coura, the Fanzine Exhibition of the Rock’n’Cave Fanzinoteca now begins an itinerant journey, bringing smaller showcases to different cultural spaces. The first venue to host this traveling project is the newly opened Zumbido Bookstore, in Matosinhos.

This exhibition celebrates more than 20 years of activity by the Rock’n’Cave Fanzinoteca, with special emphasis on artists who continue to explore and expand the possibilities of independent publishing.

Fanzines (“fanatics magazines”) are a privileged space for expression, information, and creation, where many authors – illustrators, designers, and writers – take their first steps. Everything in fanzines is variable and experimental: formats, print runs, periodicity, prices, themes, among other details. Within them coexist spontaneity and ephemerality – as well as great technical mastery, serious content, and editorial regularity that rivals professional magazines.

This year’s exhibition, curated by Italian illustrator Rosita Uricchio, was conceived to be light and accessible – just like fanzines themselves. The cardboard structures were chosen for their simplicity, mobility, and versatility, allowing the exhibition to be reimagined in different spaces and contexts.

Rosita Uricchio é ilustradora e designer gráfica do sul da Itália.
Estudou artes visuais na Academia de Brera, em Milão, e fez um mestrado em ilustração editorial no ISIA, em Urbino. Nos últimos treze anos, tem viajado por diferentes países, trabalhando e vivendo em diferentes contextos, para descobrir a beleza de diversos lugares e conhecer pessoas incríveis de várias partes do mundo, ampliando os seus horizontes. Rosita já viveu na Hungria (Pécs), Alemanha (Berlim) e América do Sul (Cusco, Peru). Na sua pequena cidade natal, Pomarico, está a construir um pequeno estúdio no centro histórico da vila.

Rosita Uricchio is an illustrator and graphic designer from Southern Italy She studied visual art at Brera Academy in Milan, with a master in editorial illustration at ISIA, Urbino. She’s been travelling for the last thirteen years, working and living in different enviroments, discovering the beautiness of some places, meeting lots of amazing people and colleagues all over the world, and opening her mind. Rosita has lived in Hungary (Pécs), Germany (Berlin), South America(Cusco-Perù). In her little home town, Pomarico, she’s building step by step a little studio in the historical center of the town.
